Film photography is imperfect, instinctual, selfless.
Shooting with film is a negotiation of control, and in my case, a relinquishment of control. With a finite number of available frames, film lost to light leaks or chemistry mistakes, nothing is taken for granted.
Although I have a tendency to reach for a digital camera while on assignment, the opportunity to use film presents itself as a meditation, and so these shots that you see are rarely retouched in the hope that the visuals connect with raw emotion rather than thought — with the id rather than the ego…
